Rosenberg Orthodontics is pleased to offer Invisalign as an alternative to traditional braces. When you need your teeth straightened, you want to come to Dr. Phillip E. Rosenberg, our Clinton Hill orthodontist. Invisalign is the state of the art and it is an exciting innovation in orthodontics. We will tell you about all of the benefits of Invisalign as well as the drawbacks so you can make the best decision for you when it comes to aligning your teeth properly.
For those who are turned off by the look of traditional metal braces, Invisalign can be just the thing. Instead of a nest of unattractive metal wires, you get a clear aligner that is virtually undetectable to the eye. Misaligned or crooked teeth can make you feel self-conscious but they are also unhealthy and can cause discomfort or even pain. Brushing and flossing between them effectively is not always easy either. As a result, you are more prone to tooth decay and gum disease than you would otherwise be. Our Clinton Hill orthodontist will use advanced 3-D technology to create a series of Invisalign aligners that are used throughout the process of straightening your teeth. Each one is custom designed for your mouth. Depending on your unique circumstances, Dr. Rosenberg will use anywhere from 12 to 48 aligners to complete the process. You will wear each one for about 2 weeks before the next one is fitted. Invisalign aligners are worn continuously- even while you sleep, except for eating, brushing, and flossing.
What are the drawbacks of Invisalign? Well, it tends to be more effective with correcting teeth that are misaligned vertically, meaning some teeth are higher and others are lower. It is less effective with correcting your bite and with fixing teeth that are severely overcrowded. Invisalign is also more expensive than traditional braces. To find out if you are a good candidate for Invisalign and if it is the best option for you, make an appointment to come in for a consultation with our Clinton Hill orthodontist. Invisalign is an exciting choice with a lot of advantages to recommend it, but it may not be the right thing for everyone.
